The acquisition of Astron document management by RR Donnelley & Sons, completed in 2007, was a smart move for the global thinkers at RR Donnelley. Astron document management was known as an expert in business process outsourcing (BPO) but was a relatively narrow UK-based company. When it was bought out by RR Donnelley, it became much more able to use its expertise on a global scale. RR Donnelley Global Document Solutions offers a robust outsourcing infrastructure and a high-tech component-based managed service platform. Though RR Donnelley specializes in complete communication life cycle management, it prides itself on tailoring its services to all companies that may want to take a phased approach to document and communication management.
