When a dentist has a practice and becomes a very popular dentist, the need for the dental chairside assistant becomes even more important than what it was when he or she first opened up their practice. The Dental Chairside Assistant is the second pair of hands that the dentist needs in order to complete his work properly and also to assist the patients. This assistant helps the dentist when they are actually working on the patient in order to hand them the tools and supplies that they need, to suction saliva so that the dentist can see what he or she is doing, and to help the patient be informed about what to do after their visit.
