A great diet health food tip is to plan your meals around starchy foods. This is because starchy foods make up the largest portion of what you eat — about a third of your diet. It is where you derive your energy from as well as a variety of different nutrients.

It’s important that the starches you consume and your diet come from whole-grain sources. Refined grains are often stripped of almost all their nutrients. In other words, they become empty calories.

Don’t worry about starches being fattening. If you compare them by the gram, they contain less calories than fat.
