Alternative Procedures - Monovision Surgery

Monovision surgery is an alternative procedure used to address presbyopia in the eyes. Before a patient undergoes monovision surgery, he/she must wear practice lenses in order to determine whether the person can adapt to having monovision. In essence, monovision is having correct eyesight for distance in one eye while having correct eyesight for close objects in the other eye. Without practice and adaptation, a monovision patient is likely to suffer, dizziness, nausea and a general imbalance of the body which could have been avoided if the patient practiced in the first place. In order to practice, the patients must wear lenses to accustom themselves to the effects of post monovision surgery. Once monovision has been completed without practice, there is no going back.
